ISTQB certification
Section dedicated to the ISTQB® certifications: the Foundation Level (CTFL) v4.0, the standard entry-level certification for software testers, which I got in December 2024, and the Advanced Level, which I'm preparing now. Here I collect what I wish I'd had organized while preparing for them.
Foundation Level (CTFL v4.0)
- The CTFL v4.0 exam — format, chapters, scoring, K-levels and where to download the official documents.
- Study plan — how to prepare for it, combining the official material with the articles on this wiki.
Advanced Level: Test Automation Engineering
- The Advanced Level: which module — the Advanced modules compared, why Test Automation Engineering, and what changes from Foundation.
- Advanced Test Automation Engineering (CTAL-TAE v2.0) — the exam in numbers, a chapter-by-chapter map and what changed from 2016.
- TAE study plan — eight weeks weighted by exam points, building a small framework by hand along the way.
- TAE practice questions — twenty original questions in the exam's style, with explained answers.
About the official material
Syllabi, sample exams and the glossary are ISTQB copyrighted material. This section does not reproduce them: it links to them (they're free to download from the official site) and explains the exams in my own words. The practice questions are my own, not official ones. Always study from the original source; this section helps you get organized and know what to expect.
